Classes

The Monday West African drum class is now at Full Moon Studio at 162 West 28th St. at the southeast corner of 28th St. and 7th Ave.(the door to Full Moon Studio is painted brown, has a bell, the door is not marked). The class is all-level, starts at 6:15 sharp and runs 2 hours and 15 min (6:15-8:30). There is no storage space at Full Moon so you must bring your own drum. If you don't have a drum, call Michael at 718-486-3230 to arrange to borrow one. Classes are $20, class cards honored, of course; no pre-registation necessary. Class cards are $136 ($17/class)

Michael Markus has studied with several masters from Guinea, West Africa including master drummer M'Bemba Bangoura and master dancer Yousouff Koumbassa. He has also traveled to Guinea, West Africa six times to study with masters of the national companies Les Ballets Africains de Guinea and Ballet Djoliba. Michael is the founder and artistic director of Magbana Drum and Dance NYC.
